CHARGE Syndrome Awareness Day
We love our fearless Commodore Ollie and stand together to support this monumental day.
The first paper on the discovery of the CHD7 gene was published by Professor Conny van Ravenswaaij-Arts (August 8, 2004). This day aims to raise awareness of the variability of CHARGE syndrome to help improve diagnosis and access to best practice interventions.
MAIN CAMPUS AFTERNOON TRAFFIC UPDATE
We want to thank everyone for their patience and generosity in working with our staff daily to ensure the Commodore experience is great.
We have an update on minor changes to the afternoon traffic on the main campus. We implement these changes for the safety of our students and drivers as we flow traffic during bus waves.
1. Car rider pick locations are only at the front of each building (LUES, LMS, and LHS).
2. South Commodore Dr, the road behind the LMS Gym, will now be closed to traffic.
3. LHS drivers exiting the LMS back parking lot will exit directly from Commodore Dr onto HWY 334 (green arrows).
4. The point beyond the LMS back parking lot will be one-way traffic for the bus lane and the lower athletics parking lot heading out to LUES. LHS drivers parked in the athletics parking lot will have to exit toward LUES and loop if exiting during dismissal.
Lafayette Upper Elementary parents are invited to attend our annual Title 1 meeting at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in the LUES 3-5 Library. Doors will open at 4:45.

A GOLDEN PERFORMANCE FOR LCSD PRE-K PROGRAM
We are thrilled to share that our LES Pre-K achieved a perfect score of 100/100 on the end-of-year Kindergarten Rate of Readiness.
MKAS2: 25/25 points
CELA: 25/25 points
CLASS: 50/50 points
Congratulations to our amazing Pre-K students and their fantastic teachers. You’ve truly earned your gold!
The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) has established a rate of readiness for each
collaborative site as part of the Effectiveness Evaluation of Early Learning Collaborative and
Other Pre-K Classrooms. The rate of readiness is a score assigned to each site through the completion of specific evaluation tools that assess how children grow academically and developmentally throughout a school year and how the classroom environment and teaching practices support children’s learning.
We've set sail! Thank you to our families, community, OPD, and LCSD for getting us rolling this morning.
As we get used to traffic patterns, the flow will move even better. Thank you for your patience and assistance as we get our students to their buildings safely.

WE’RE BACK!!
We had a wonderful time at our 2024 Convocation as we gathered all staff and faculty to celebrate our students and their achievements. Our focus remains on our Commodores and their well-rounded education.
Student band members, ROTC cadets, cheer and dance squads have of their time to help us kick off the day.
From a fabulous fellowship breakfast provided by Community Church Oxford, to laughter and words of encouragement from our stars. WE ARE THE COUNTY, ANCHORED TO EXCELLENCE.
LES AND LHS OPEN HOUSE
From the youngest to the older Commodores, we enjoyed seeing all the smiling faces on day one of open house.
LUES and LMS, you're up tomorrow!
MS Junior State Champions, Lafayette’s Jackson Parks and Riley Moore finished Top 15 in The Bass Federation Junior World Championship on Lake Hartwell in Anderson, South Carolina. They fished hard for 2 days and made the final day cut line.
Words can’t express our gratitude for the support to help these young men accomplish so much this year.
Lafayette Elementary and Lafayette Middle School parents are invited to attend our Annual Title 1 meetings immediately before the LES Open House and LMS Open House from 4:00-4:30 pm with doors closing at 3:55.
