Welcome!
The Child Nutrition department of Lafayette County Schools is committed to serving nutritious, safe and balanced meals that exceed all federal nutritional guidelines. Our department provides quality nutrition programs that promote life-long healthful living while providing nutritious meals each day that prepare children for learning.
The Child Nutrition Department is a Federal Program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Mississippi Department of Education Office of Child Nutrition, and the Lafayette County School Board. Strict regulations are placed on the department in all areas, but particularly the nutritional content of all foods available to students on each school campus.
Our Child Nutrition Department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to student’s health, well-being, and their ability to learn.
Students/Teachers/Staff are offered a daily variety of foods prepared fresh daily that is high in whole grains, fresh produce and includes fat-free and lactose-free milk. We partner with other schools and local programs to provide health and nutrition education opportunities. The goal of our department is to ensure your student receives the best nutritional experience possible so that they can be healthy, fit, and ready to succeed.
Each year, we send out free or reduced meal applications to every student in our district. We process these applications as we receive them and mail notification letters to all those that apply. We encourage each and every family of our district to fill out this form. If for some reason your child did not receive their application, please feel free to contact our office (662) 234-7320, or go to our website and apply online.
Parents/guardians will be responsible for maintaining a positive meal account balance, per School Board Policy. Regrettably, no charging is allowed.
Myschoolbucks.com is a great tool to use to pay for student’s meals. You can monitor your child(ren)’s account and set up low balance reminders for free. There is a small fee charged to you for use of this app. You can also send money to be applied to your child(ren)’s account to their school.
Our department is looking forward to serving your child(ren) this year and in the years to come.
Sincerely,
Mark H. Davis, Director
