Flowood, MS - The Lafayette County School District has received the esteemed "Beacon Award" at the Mississippi School Board Association’s (MSBA) Annual Conference in recognition of its A-rated accountability status. This award is presented to districts where every school within the district has earned an A rating, marking a significant achievement in academic excellence.

The award is currently on display at Lafayette Middle School, which proudly earned its first-ever A rating.

Principal Jamie Everett expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, "While we all know that we don’t teach for awards or accolades, it is truly nice to be recognized on a state level alongside our superintendent. As exciting as this award is, let’s not forget that the greatest achievement we can celebrate is the growth, success, and development of our students as they evolve into productive, capable adults. I am beyond proud to work alongside such a dedicated and hard-working team, and I am excited for all the great things we will continue to accomplish together."

This achievement reflects the dedication of students, teachers, and administrators across the district, reinforcing a culture of excellence and continuous growth.
