MAIN CAMPUS AFTERNOON TRAFFIC UPDATE
We want to thank everyone for their patience and generosity in working with our staff daily to ensure the Commodore experience is great.
We have an update on minor changes to the afternoon traffic on the main campus. We implement these changes for the safety of our students and drivers as we flow traffic during bus waves.
1. Car rider pick locations are only at the front of each building (LUES, LMS, and LHS).
2. South Commodore Dr, the road behind the LMS Gym, will now be closed to traffic.
3. LHS drivers exiting the LMS back parking lot will exit directly from Commodore Dr onto HWY 334 (green arrows).
4. The point beyond the LMS back parking lot will be one-way traffic for the bus lane and the lower athletics parking lot heading out to LUES. LHS drivers parked in the athletics parking lot will have to exit toward LUES and loop if exiting during dismissal.

Lafayette Upper Elementary parents are invited to attend our annual Title 1 meeting at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in the LUES 3-5 Library. Doors will open at 4:45.

We've set sail! Thank you to our families, community, OPD, and LCSD for getting us rolling this morning.
As we get used to traffic patterns, the flow will move even better. Thank you for your patience and assistance as we get our students to their buildings safely.

With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of our dear colleague and friend, Hailey Boggs.
Mrs. Boggs built meaningful relationships with everyone she encountered-staff and students alike. Her dedication to her work at Lafayette Upper Elementary was unparalleled. She always went above and beyond to ensure our students were happy and safe, often caring for their personal needs as well as their school ones. Her warmth and compassion will be sorely missed.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. The service celebrating her life will take place at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Coleman Funeral Home.

📚 The Literacy Bus made a special visit to Lafayette Upper Elementary's summer school program! 🚍✨ Students had the opportunity to choose books to take home and participated in some fun games.
Daily reading can significantly improve a child’s reading comprehension, helping them become more proficient and confident readers. Consistent practice enhances vocabulary, understanding of text structure, and critical thinking skills, laying a strong foundation for academic success.
A heartfelt thank you to Cara Buffington for bringing the Literacy Bus to Lafayette Upper Elementary. This support will help nurture the educational growth and imagination of our students. ❤️📖
